As we go through life we build up habits of tension which interfere with general functioning. Over time we develop back or neck pain, RSI, suffer from stress or anxiety, have feelings of unhappiness, or cannot perform as effectively as we would like, for instance in music, drama, sports.
The Alexander Technique is a skill with which you can stop the habitual tension patterns and restore free natural poise and easy well-coordinated movement. This in turn brings with it a feeling of wellbeing, better health, and the ability to carry out actions in a more well- coordinated and effective manner without unnecessary effort.
You find relief from pain with a freer back, or neck, and a reduction in the stress, anxiety or tiredness that have interfered in your daily life; as a musician, artist, or actor you find you can express yourself more freely, and you enjoy more effective performance in sport.
I enjoy introducing this work to people and seeing them change as they learn to help themselves through the Alexander Technique.
